Retwist and retie · Vaudreuil-Dorion

A retwist that does not
hurt for a week.

Clean roots, straight parts, and you leave finished. Full head from $120, half head from $100, and I can usually get you in after work.

From $100  ·  2 to 3 hours  ·  Evenings until 8:30pm

Close up of a temple, microlocs parted off a hairline that is still fully intact, with fine baby hairs along the edge

Prices

What it costs.

Full head retie, big size $120
Full head retie, medium size $135

More locs than the big size, so more hours. That is the whole reason it costs more.

Add a style to a full head retie $10
Half head retwist or interlock $100

For locs on top with the sides and back cut or shaved. Fewer locs to work on, so it costs less than a full head and takes less time.

Half head retwist or interlock, with a style $120

Smaller loc sizes cost more because there are more locs to work on. A $50 deposit books your spot and comes off your final price.

Locs with a taper

Sides shaved,
locs on top.

If your sides and back are cut or shaved and your locs sit on the top only, that is what the half head price is for. Most of my male clients are on this, and a good number of women too.

$100 for a retwist or interlock, or $120 with a style. Fewer locs than a full head, so it costs less and you are out sooner.

One thing worth knowing: I retwist the locs, I do not cut the fade. Come with the taper already lined up, or book me straight after your barber, and it will look its best.

Every four to six weeks, for years

This one is a relationship,
not a transaction.

You will sit in this chair eight or nine times a year, for as long as you have your locs. Which is exactly why the small things compound.

Nine appointments a year at slightly too much tension is not a small problem. It is the most common way people lose their edges, and it happens so gradually that you only notice it in old photos.

Palm roll or interlock

Two ways to do it,
and I will pick for you.

Palm rolling

I roll the new growth between my palms. Softer on your roots and it looks natural.

It loosens faster, so it suits you if you do not wash very often.

Interlocking

I pull the end of the loc through the root. It holds far longer and survives washing and workouts.

It takes more time, and it is the one that does real damage if it is done too tight. So it is not done too tight.

Tell me how often you wash and how active you are and I will choose. You do not need to know which one you want before you book.

Timing

When to come back.

  • Every four to six weeks keeps your locs neat with the least stress on your roots. This is the window.
  • Past eight weeks means more new growth, a longer appointment, and more pulling to get it neat.
  • More often than four weeks is how people thin out their roots without realising. If you are booking too often I will tell you and I will send you home.

The useful part

You do not have to
give up a Saturday.

I work until 8:00pm most nights, and Monday and Wednesday are evenings only. A retwist fits comfortably after work, which is the whole reason those evenings exist.

Saturdays and Sundays I am open from 8:00am if you would rather get it done early.

My one promise

If it feels tight, I take it out.

Not at the end. While I am working. Say the word and I will undo that section and redo it looser, at no charge and with no sighing. You should walk out with neat roots and a scalp you have stopped thinking about.

Straight answers

Retwist questions.

Will this mess up my edges?

Not at the tension I work at. Your edges are the thinnest, weakest hair on your head and they get pulled the hardest, so that is where I am most careful. If your last stylist left you sore, tell me on the day and I will go lighter at the front.

How should I come?

With clean, detangled hair. Washed, dried, and combed out, no heavy product at the root. And on time, please. Your slot is held for you alone, so a late start means a rushed finish rather than a shorter wait for somebody else.

Can you fix my parts?

Usually yes. If your sections have drifted I can re-part them, but tell me when you book so I leave enough time. Squeezing it into a normal slot is how it ends up rushed.

I got my locs somewhere else. Will you take me?

Yes, and a lot of my clients come that way. Send a photo when you book so I know what I am working with.

How long will I actually be sitting there?

Two to three hours for most people. Longer if you have a lot of locs or a lot of new growth. You get the exact time when you book, and I do not put anyone else in the chair partway through.

My sides are shaved. Which price is mine?

The half head, $100. That is exactly what it is for: locs on top with the sides and back cut or shaved. $120 if you want a style with it. I do the locs, not the fade, so come with the taper already lined up.

Do you do men?

Yes, men, women, and children. A good share of my retwist clients are men with a taper, so you will not be the only one in the book that week.

Do you do styles?

Yes. It is $10 extra on a full head retie and $20 on a half head.

What happens to my $50 if I have to move my appointment?

It stays with the appointment you booked. Deposits are not refundable and they do not transfer, so a new date takes a new deposit. Your slot was held for you and nobody else was put in it.

Can you come to me?

Yes, for $15 on top of the service price. Tell me your address when you book.
