Locs and dreadlocks in Vaudreuil-Dorion
Neat comes from the parting, not from pulling your hair. I tie loose enough that your scalp is not sore when you leave, because tension is what costs people their hairline.
Microlocs, starter locs, dreadlocks, retwists, and loc repair. Men, women, and children.
Before you book anyone
Tension damage does not show up the week it happens. It shows up three years later at your hairline. By then you have paid for it twice, once at the chair and once again to fix it.
What I do differently
Five years doing locs, and locs are the only thing I do.
I tie loose. If it hurts while I am working, it is too tight, so say so and I will take it out and do it again. Sore for a week is not the price of neat locs.
I do not book two heads into the same afternoon. Your appointment is the whole appointment, and nobody else gets put in the chair halfway through it.
Every price is on this site and there is no consultation fee. Send me a photo and I will give you a figure. If your hair turns out to need more than that, you hear it from me before I carry on, never when you are paying.
If what you want will not work on your hair, I will say so before we start, not after you have paid. Sometimes that costs me the booking. I would rather that than fix it later.
Where are you right now?
Hundreds of small locs instead of a few big ones. This one takes two days.
Microlocs → Starting out Traditional starter locs From $180You have loose hair and you are ready to begin. Comb coils, interlocks, or crochet, with or without extensions.
Starter locs → Every 4 to 6 weeks Retwist and retie From $100Your roots have grown out. This keeps your locs neat and your parts clean.
Retwist and retie → When one breaks Loc repair $5 per locThinning roots, split locs, or a loc that came off. Fixed one at a time.
Loc repair →Recent work
Straight, even sections are the thing you cannot fake and the thing that decides how your locs sit in five years. It is the first thing I would check on anybody's work, including mine.
Meet your loctician
I have been doing locs for five years, and locs are all I do. Microlocs, micro-interloc extensions, dreadlocks, and traditional locs, here in Vaudreuil-Dorion. Men, women, and children.
I specialize in locs because I wanted to make a real contribution to the loc community, and to help change the way locs get talked about. The other half of it is simpler. I want you to feel confident and proud of your hair, and that comes down to quality care and the time to do it properly.
So this is meant to be a welcoming place. Somewhere you can embrace your loc journey, receive professional care, and feel valued every step of the way.
More about me →The practical part
Your $50 comes off your final price and holds a slot nobody else can have. It is not refundable, and it does not move to another booking. The day it held is a day I cannot fill. If you cancel or change your date, booking again takes a new deposit.
Everything is booked online, including evenings. Monday and Wednesday I work until 8:30pm, so a retwist does not have to cost you a Saturday.
Add $15 and I will travel to your place instead. Useful if you have small children, or if sitting somewhere else for six hours is the part you are dreading.
Straight answers
Not if the tension is right. Tight locs look sharp for about a week and cost you your hairline over years. I tie loose enough that your scalp is not sore when you walk out. If anything feels tight while I am working, say so and I will take that section out and redo it.
A retwist is two to three hours. Starter locs are four to six. Microlocs are two full days. You get the exact hours when you book, and I do not run over by putting someone else in the chair halfway through.
Because the price follows how much hair you have. More hair means more locs, and more locs means more hours. Send me a photo before you book and I will tell you where in the range you land. A photo is not the same as seeing your hair in person, so if that figure needs to change I will tell you before I carry on, not at the end.
It stays with the appointment you booked. Deposits are not refundable and they do not transfer, so booking a new date takes a new deposit. That is because your slot was held for you and nobody else was put in it. Please book a date you are confident you can keep.
Book a starter locs appointment and bring photos of what you like. Before I touch your hair I will tell you which method suits your texture and what it will look like in six months. That includes telling you if the photo you brought is not realistic for your hair.
Yes, and a lot of my clients come that way. Send a photo when you book so I know what I am working with, especially if your parts need fixing. That takes extra time and I would rather plan for it than rush it.
Same thing, different word. Locs and dreadlocks are one hairstyle, and which name people use usually comes down to where they grew up. I install and maintain all of it: microlocs, traditional locs, and freeform dreadlocks. Call it whichever you like when you book, I will know what you mean.
Yes. Sankofa Locks is a Black owned salon in Vaudreuil-Dorion and textured hair is the only hair I work on. If you have spent years being told your hair is difficult, or sat in a chair where nobody quite knew what to do with it, that is not what happens here.
Yes, all three. Children get a lighter tension than adults, always.
Yes. I am open until 8:00pm most nights, and Monday and Wednesday are evenings only. Retwists and repairs fit after work. Starter locs and microlocs need a longer day, so those start earlier.
Here is exactly what happens next.
